Greetings BIG 6th District –

Well, here we are at the beginning of another membership year. Congratulations to our new Department of Minnesota Commander Linda Dvorak, National Executive Committeeman Dr. Carl Moon, Alternate-NEC Paul Hassing, and all of the officers elected at the Department Convention.
While it was well attended, we need to see more Post participation at these events. I remember a time when it was considered a requirement for all Post Commanders and Adjutants to attend. I'd like to see us get back to that.
Remember, your voice is only heard and your concerns/suggestions considered, if you attend these events.
Next stop is the National Convention in Tampa, FL. I sure wish they would be sending us down there in January or February instead of August. It will be great to see old friends and make new acquaintances again.
Membership is never an easy task. My heartfelt thanks go out to those that have stepped up to lead the way in their Posts, and our BIG 6th District. Remember, it is the duty of every Legionnaire to assist our elected and appointed officers in accomplishing their goals. Only TOGETHER can we continue to be successful, and make sure our elected city, county, state, and national officials have to listen when we talk to them about veteran issues. Everything we do , everything we accomplish, all of the good things that are done for our veterans, our
youth, and in our communities is because of our members.
The American Legion family remains strong because of our members. TOGETHER WE CAN continue to do awesome things. And remember to BE THE ONE to save the life of a fellow veteran. BE THE ONE to reach out to a fellow veteran in need and help them get back on their feet. BE THE ONE to offer a light at the end of the dark tunnel for a veteran that may be facing trying times (illness or death of a loved one, their own illness, and many other examples). You don't need to do it all, or solve all the problems, but you can BE THE ONE to help a fellow veteran get the guidance or assistance they need.
And finally, please remember all of those in our BIG 6th District family that are struggling with health problems. Keep them in your prayers and send them all of the strength and good wishes you can muster.
