New Year, New Website

Que the fireworks, it’s time to celebrate. Our new website is live. We have refreshed the look, made the website easier to navigate, and made it easier to get to the content that you need. Please explore, kick the tires, and tell us what you think. The website will be routinely updated so send any feedback to almndist6comms@gmail.com.

Why the change? Our old website was not user friendly, did not present the professional look we strived for, and it was hard to find relevant items. When I assumed the role of District Media/Communications Director, one of the first task that Commander Frank presented me with was to take a look at our District website and compare it to other districts in our state.

Some districts did not have a website but the most professional ones were powered by

Legion Social. The web design was of such high quality that our Department American

Legion choose to use Legion Social for their website.

Thank you to Jennifer Cole, owner of Legion Social for all of the effort in getting our website going. Jennifer is an Auxiliary member and Legion Rider. It is amazing to support a local business and member of our American Legion family.

Happy New Year and Many Blessings to you.

Shawna Knutson

6 District Media/Communications Director

Greetings BIG 6th District –

Here we are at the beginning of a new year. Each year at this time, we reflect on the year

gone by and look forward with anticipation on the year to come. As I look back on 2025, I am reminded of all the times I visited Posts and veterans in our BIG 6th District. What a privilege it is to serve you, and I hope to see many of you soon. It is my sincere hope that all of you had a very Safe, Blessed, Merry Christmas, and that 2026 will be filled with all the very best life has to offer.

Membership is going well, and we stay at or near the top of the membership race. The Pearl Harbor Rally in Buffalo was, once again, a great event. I am always so proud of the

participation we get from our 6th District family however, we would always like to see more participation, especially some new faces.

Don’t forget to check out our new 6th District website at mn6thdistrict.org. Thank you to all that braved the cold and wind and placed wreaths on the graves of those that went before us. 6th District ALA President Wendy and I were at the ceremony in Upsala.

What a great, moving tribute to our predecessors.
