Greetings BIG 6th District –

Here is hoping everyone had a Merry Christmas and will have a 2025 filled with all of the very best life can offer.


We are doing well in membership, as we were in FIRST place at the Pearl Harbor Rally at Post 545 in Spicer. That event went well however, I’d like to see more participation from our 6th District family. It seems like we always get to see the same folks. Seeing new faces participate would be very refreshing. And let’s not let up now. We are in the hardest times for membership and need to keep our foot on the gas. A huge THANK YOU to Kasey Krautkremer and the entire membership team.

1)      Awards

a.       Enlisted Person of the Year - contact Karen O’Bar (Nat’l Security and Foreign Relations Chair)

b.       Police Officer of the year – contact Paul Edwards (Law & Order Chair)

c.       Firefighter of the year – contact Paul Edwards (Law & Order Chair)

d.       Employer of the Year – contact Dennis Schiffler (Employment Chair)

e.       Boys State – contact Murray Bright (Boys State Chair)

2)      6th District events:

a.       Executive Board meeting – 12-Jan-25 at Post 560 in Zimmerman

b.       Mid-Winter conference – 18-Jan-25 at Post 101 In Melrose

i.      See registration details in the December - 6th District newsletter and later this newsletter

ii.      We hope to see every Post, Unit, and Squadron represented. You can’t be heard if you don’t attend,

c.       Oratorical contest is 8-Feb-25 at Post 627 in Nisswa.

i.      Please send contestant information to Kasey Krautkremer or Jim Lucas soon so we can plan.

d.       Executive Board meeting – 06-Apr-25 at Post 368 in Backus

e.       Joint Testimonial held on 3-May-25 at Post 621 in St. Augusta. Registration info to come

f.        Convention held on 6 & 7-Jun-25 at Post 255 in Brainerd

i.      Again, we hope to see every Post, Unit, Squadron, and Chapter represented. You can’t be heard of you aren’t there.

3)      Department of Minnesota events:

a.       Sweetheart Rally held 8-Feb-25 at Post 137 in Royalton. See Department website and Legionnaire for registration information.

b.       Department Oratorical contest held on 22-Feb-25

c.       Department Commander testimonial – 5-Apr-25 at Northern Lights Casino. Registration information in Legionnaire and on Department website
