Greetings BIG 6th District –

Frank Grittner

Let me start off by saying what an honor and a privilege it is for me to be chosen as your new 6th District Commander.  Over the course of the coming year, I will do my best to earn the trust you have placed in me. I look forward to working with all of you to continue to build on the successes of the past and take advantage of new opportunities to move our district forward.

To Commander Anthony Koop, I’d like to say THANK YOU for all your hard work and leadership over the course of the past year.  You represented our district well and should be proud of all that was accomplished during your tenure.

For those that do not know me, let me start off with a brief introduction:

  • I grew up on a dairy farm in the Pierz area

  • I served in the U.S. Marine Corps from December of 1981 thru October 1991

  • I am a 25-year member of Kriesel-Jacobsen Post 560 in Zimmerman

  • The positions I have held in The American Legion include:

    • Post 560 Commander, Chaplain, 1st Vice Commander, 2nd Vice Commander, Adjutant and Gambling Manager

    • In the 6th District

      • Chaplain

      • South-Sub Vice Commander

      • Membership Bulletin

I have a two-fold theme this year.  My first theme is “Bearish for Membership”. Because our members are the heart and soul of our great organization, I felt this theme is most important.  Without our current members, and without continually welcoming new members, we cannot continue to advocate for our fellow veterans and their families. Only by continuing to keep and grow our membership can we expect our governmental leaders to listen to us. Our voices are stronger together.  Which brings me to my second theme “Together We Can”. We, as The American Legion family, are a strong voice for our veterans, their families, and our community. And by standing together with our community members, we can positively impact the world around us.
